Founded to relieve a growing community's schools.

Fucheng's junior high section was established in 1991, initially borrowing classrooms from nearby Wujia Junior High because the single existing junior high could no longer serve the fast-growing Wujia population. The school moved onto its own campus in 1995, added a senior high section in 2000, and became a Kaohsiung municipal school after the 2010 city-county merger.

What makes this school worth knowing.

🏫 Born From Overcrowding

The school was created in 1991 because Wujia's rapidly growing population had outgrown the area's single existing junior high, Wujia Junior High.

🏗️ From Borrowed Classrooms to Its Own Campus

Fucheng opened by borrowing classrooms from Wujia Junior High, then moved into its own campus in 1995 — a common growing-pain story for postwar Taiwanese schools.

🎓 Junior High to Senior High in a Decade

A senior high section was added in 2000, less than ten years after the junior high section first opened, tracking Wujia's continued population growth.

📈

Fucheng's founding story is a direct record of Wujia's explosive postwar population growth — the school exists specifically because the district's original junior high could no longer keep up with demand. See the Kaohsiung county page for more on the region.
