It remains one of the smallest schools in Yanchao District, with just 6 classes, around 84 students, and 11 teachers, and it operates a community reading station that serves the wider neighborhood.
鳳雄國小創立於民國40年（1951年），原為橫山國民學校「鳳雄分班」，民國44年（1955年）獨立設校。學校目前僅有6班、約84名學生、11位教師，是燕巢區規模最小的學校之一，並設有社區閱讀站服務鄰里。
