A school whose name settled a local dispute.
Planning for Fongxin Senior High began in 1990, and the school was formally established on July 1, 1992. It was originally slated to be named "Wujia Senior High," but local objection — since the site was not actually located in the Wujia community — led to its current name instead. Today, around 80% of its graduates go on to national universities, and it runs bilingual experimental classes for interested students.

Roughly 80% of graduates go on to national universities, reflecting the school's academic track record since its 1992 founding.

A naming dispute that reveals local geography.
The story behind the school's name is a small piece of local geography lore — Fongshan residents distinguish precisely between sub-communities like Wujia and Fongshan proper, and objected when the new school was set to be named after a neighborhood it didn't actually sit within. See the Kaohsiung county page for more on the region.
