Fengshu Elementary opened on August 1, 2001, under founding principal Hsu Tzu-hung. A second principal, Li Chih-peng, took office in 2008; the school reached municipal status in December 2014; and a third principal, Fang Jui-mei, took office in 2016. It was one of several early-2000s schools founded in Guishan to keep pace with residential growth spilling out from Taipei's southwestern suburbs, and operates under the motto 'dignity, hope, happiness.'
楓樹國小於2001年8月1日創校,首任校長為許慈鴻。2008年由第二任校長李志鵬接任,2014年12月改制為市立學校,2016年由第三任校長方瑞梅接任。本校為2000年代初期因應台北西南郊人口外溢、龜山住宅成長而設立的學校之一,校訓為「尊嚴、希望、快樂」。
