One campus, junior high through senior high.
Fangliao Senior High School traces its roots to 1964, when it opened as a branch of Donggang Junior High. It became an independent junior high school in 1966, was renamed Fangliao National Junior High in 1968 under Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform, and was upgraded to full senior-high status in February 2001. Today it is the only “complete school” (完全中學) in southern Pingtung County, meaning its junior-high division (國中部, grades 7–9) and senior-high division (高中部, grades 10–12) share one campus and one administration. The senior-high division runs nine general classes plus three athletics/PE special classes, while the junior-high division has 21 general classes, two special-education classes, and one home-schooling itinerant class. Note: some directories list “枋寮國中” (Fangliao Junior High) separately, but it is simply this school's junior-high division, not a distinct institution.

Fangliao, gateway to the South-Link Railway.
Fangliao Township sits at the junction of Provincial Highway 1 and Highway 17, marking the starting point of the South-Link Railway (南迴鐵路) and its nostalgic “Blue Train” (藍皮解憂號) toward Taitung and Kenting. The township is also one of Taiwan's major fishing and aquaculture centers, famous for grouper (石斑魚) and whitebait (魩鱙魚) — an identity the school's students grow up alongside every day.
