A name carrying Kaohsiung's coastal wetland history.
Erling Elementary School was approved for establishment in 1980 and formally founded in July 1981, under its first principal, Zhang Dengshou. Its campus was built out over three construction phases, completed in 1983, 1984, and 1987. The school's name, “二苓” (“second reed”), belongs to a distinctive place-naming pattern found across coastal Kaohsiung, where “苓” (reed/rush) marked the reed-filled wetlands that once lined the shoreline.
