A remote school with a distinctive signature activity.
Duonian Elementary School serves a small, remote settlement, with many students coming from new-immigrant or economically disadvantaged families. As of 2023 it had about 93 students and 16 teachers. While its founding date is not documented, the school has built a strong identity around whole-school unicycling, which every student — starting from first grade — takes part in one day a week, a tradition it has embraced island-wide recognition for since 2023.
