A name built from two villages.

Duba Elementary School was founded in 1954 as a branch of Guantian Elementary School and became independent in 1958. Its name is a compound of the two villages it was founded to serve — "渡" from Dutou Village and "拔" from Balin Village. The school was renamed to reflect its municipal status after the 2010 Tainan county-city merger, and today offers a lion-dance team, a martial-arts team, an art club, and a dance club as core extracurriculars.

Local Culture ·

Two villages, one school, a dispersed farmland.

🌰

Duba's original mission — serving two water-chestnut-farming villages too far from the district center for children to commute — reflects the dispersed rural settlement pattern typical of Guantian's paddy-farming landscape, where many small schools grew up around scattered hamlets. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
