Nearly seventy years at the town's center.
Dongshan Junior High traces its roots to 1956, when it opened as a branch of Luodong Middle School (羅東中學冬山分校), borrowing classroom space in the chapel and hall of neighboring Dongshan Elementary School. Its first principal, Chen Hua-cong, was appointed that same year. The school became fully independent in 1959 and took its present name in 1968. Nearly seventy years on, it remains a fixture of Dongshan Township's town center, near the Dongshan River.
