Over 120 years of history, and a museum full of kites.

Dongshan Elementary opened on April 1, 1901, during the Japanese colonial era, as a branch of Luodong Public School It became independent the following year, was renamed Dongshan Public School in 1921, and took its current name in 1968. The entire campus was relocated and rebuilt between 1995 and 1998. In 2001, the school established Taiwan's first district-wide autism consultation program. Today, at over 120 years old, it is best known for the Dongshan Kite Museum on its campus — a collection built on the school's decades of competitive kite-flying success, which helped make Dongshan Township famous across Taiwan as the "Hometown of Kites." The museum has been closed to public access since January 2020 pending relocation.
