A small school with a big heart.
Dongrong Junior High was established in August 1968 with an initial cohort of eight classes. Today it remains a small school — as of August 2025, it enrolled just 88 students across three grades (36 in Grade 1, 23 in Grade 2, and 29 in Grade 3), served by one principal, 17 teachers, five staff, and one nurse. The school offers a taekwondo resource class, runs dedicated food/agricultural and environmental education programs with their own web resources, and holds "教學正常學校" (normal teaching / non-cram-school) certification status, reflecting its focus on well-rounded, standards-based instruction.

A window into rural Minsyong.
As a small, low-enrollment junior high in Minsyong's farming villages, Dongrong Junior High illustrates the rural depopulation pattern common across the township outside its university-town core, home to National Chung Cheng University and National Chiayi University's Minsyong campus. See the Chiayi County page for more on the region.
