From one classroom to a rebuilt campus.
Dongguang Elementary was founded in April 1922 as a branch classroom of Yuchi Public School, with just a single class. It became independent as Dongguang National School in 1941, established its own branch class in 1959 (which itself became independent in 1965), and took its current name in 1968. The school suffered severe damage in Taiwan's devastating 921 earthquake of 1999, prompting the Tzu Chi Foundation to fund its reconstruction. The new campus was completed and dedicated on November 24, 2001.
