Donggang is one of Taiwan's most famous fishing ports, renowned for its bluefin tuna auctions and fresh seafood, and home to the triennial King Boat Burning Festival (迎王燒王船) centered on Donglong Temple. This vocational school trains students directly for the region's fisheries and maritime industries — its departments in aquaculture, marine engineering, and shipping management are a direct extension of the port town's economic backbone. See the Pingtung county page for more on the region.
