A century of schooling, one complete school.
Pingtung County Donggang Senior High School traces its roots to 1922, when it was founded during the Japanese colonial era as "Donggang Aquatic Supplementary School" (東港水產補習學校). After several name changes, it became a complete junior-and-senior high school in 1953, was reorganized into a junior high only in 1968 with the rollout of nine-year compulsory education, and was upgraded again in 2010 to become the complete senior high school it is today — enrolling its first senior-high class that year. Note: the school long known as "Donggang Junior High" (東港國中) was folded into this institution as its junior-high division (國中部) in that 2010 reorganization; they are the same school, not two separate ones. With over 100 years of institutional history, the school celebrated a centennial ("創校百年") anniversary, and on February 27, 2025, one of its students achieved a perfect score on the university entrance exam — the school's first since the senior-high program began in 2010.

Born from Donggang's fishing-port heritage.
Donggang Town is famed as a major fishing port for bluefin tuna and for hosting the triennial King Boat Burning Festival (迎王燒王船 / 東港迎王平安祭典), centered on Donglong Temple and its chief deity Wen Wangye — recognized as national important intangible cultural heritage in 2011. This school's very founding as an "aquatic supplementary school" in 1922 directly reflects the town's fishing-industry heritage, and the school remains woven into the fabric of a community shaped by both the sea and its Wangye temple traditions.
