Dazhong Elementary was approved for establishment on June 27, 1992, and began enrolling students in the 1994 school year under founding principal Chung Huang-hua. Its founding in the early 1990s makes it noticeably younger than most of Bade's century-old branch schools, several of which trace back to the Japanese colonial era.
大忠國小於1992年（民國81年）6月27日獲准設校，並於1994學年度（83學年度）開始招生，首任校長為鐘晃華。相較於八德區內許多可追溯至日治時期的百年老校，大忠國小創立於1990年代初期，是區內較為年輕的學校。
