Displaced by the airport, rebuilt in its image.
Dayuan Junior High was founded in 1952 on the site of a former Japanese-era wireless radio station, as a Dayuan branch of Taoyuan Middle School. It became independent as Dayuan Junior Secondary School in 1953, was reorganized under nine-year compulsory education in 1968, and renamed Taoyuan Municipal Dayuan Junior High in 2014. In February 2018, the school relocated from its longtime campus (now repurposed as the Taoyuan Aerotropolis Joint Service Center) to a brand-new campus in Nangang, built specifically because of the Taoyuan Aerotropolis (航空城) / airport third-runway expansion project. The new campus was deliberately designed around aviation imagery — from above it resembles airport runways, and its entrance is modeled on an airport control tower.

🛫 A Campus Shaped Like a Runway
跑道造型校園
Dayuan Junior High's new Nangang campus, built for the Aerotropolis relocation, is designed to resemble airport runways when viewed from above.
🗼 A Control-Tower Entrance
塔台造型校門
The school's main entrance is modeled directly on an airport control tower, a striking architectural nod to Dayuan's identity as the airport district.
📡 Built on a Wireless-Station Site
無線電信所舊址
The school's original 1952 campus was founded on the grounds of a former Japanese-era wireless radio station, before its 2018 relocation.
A school rebuilt in the airport's image.
Few schools anywhere illustrate Dayuan's airport-defined identity as literally as this one — displaced by airport expansion and rebuilt with a runway-and-control-tower-inspired design, Dayuan Junior High embodies the district's ongoing transformation under the Aerotropolis project.
