Dayou Junior High's preparatory office was established on August 1, 2002, hosted at nearby Qingxi Junior High, before the school formally opened in 2003, admitting nine first-year classes. It was renamed to Taoyuan Municipal Dayou Junior High School in the December 2014 county-to-city reorganization. Like several other junior highs spun off from older schools via preparatory offices, Dayou was founded as part of a broader wave of new campuses built to serve Taoyuan District's expanding population through the 1990s and 2000s.
大有國中籌備處於民國91年（2002年）8月1日成立，暫設於鄰近的青溪國中，並於民國92年（2003年）正式設校，首屆招收九個班級。2014年12月隨桃園縣升格直轄市，正式更名為桃園市立大有國民中學。與其他多所自籌備處分出設立的國中相同，大有國中的創立是1990至2000年代桃園區人口成長、新校陸續設立浪潮的一部分。
