From a naming dispute to an experimental-education pioneer.
Daye Junior High School was founded in 1970-71, initially named Chiayi County Chongwen Junior High School before being renamed "Daye" due to a naming conflict with a school in Pingtung. In 1999, it was designated a natural sciences and living-technology demonstration school, and in 2008 it opened the city's first junior-high "Love Library." It remains the only public junior high in Chiayi with a swimming pool. In 2023, it became Chiayi City's first public experimental education school, and was renamed Daye Experimental Junior High.
