A name chosen to bless two hamlets' flourishing.
Dawun Elementary began on October 28, 1948, as a single-classroom branch, "大寮分離課室," of Qigu Elementary. It became a formal branch in 1966 and gained full independence in August 1970 as "臺南縣七股鄉大文國民小學." Its name, combining the hamlets of Daliao and Dazheng that it serves, was chosen by local villager Ma Chunchang to mean "may Daliao and Dazheng's culture flourish." The school grounds were donated by the village temple, Long'an Temple — a common pattern for rural Taiwanese schools built on temple-donated land.

🏫 From One Classroom to a Full School
The school grew from a single-classroom branch of Qigu Elementary in 1948 into a fully independent school by 1970, mirroring the postwar growth of Qigu's small farming and aquaculture hamlets.
Temple and village, woven together.
Founded on land donated by the local Long'an Temple and named to bless the flourishing of its two founding hamlets, Dawun Elementary embodies the close temple-and-village social fabric typical of Qigu's small aquaculture and farming settlements. See the Tainan city page for more on the region.
