Dawang Elementary School

Dawang Elementary traces its roots to 1901, when it opened during the Japanese colonial era as a Taimali branch of the "Taitung Japanese-Language Training Institute." Renamed several times over more than 120 years, it now sits at the administrative heart of Taimali Township, at the foot of "Gold Needle Mountain" (金針山), the area famous for its lily-flower fields. The school draws roughly 40 percent of its students from Indigenous families and about 20 percent from new-immigrant households, and it runs a food-and-agriculture education program connecting children to the land around them.

大王國小創校於1901年（明治34年），日治時期設立時稱為「台東國語傳習所太麻里分教場」，歷經百餘年、多次更名，現址位於太麻里鄉行政中心、金針山腳下——這座山以盛產金針花聞名。全校原住民學生約佔四成，新住民子女約佔二成，並推動食農教育，讓孩子親近腳下的土地。
