Datong Elementary School was founded in 1955 as a branch campus (大同分校) of Shanhua Elementary School, situated between the rural hamlets of Liufenliao (六分寮) and Dongshiliao (東勢寮). Today it remains a small school, with 8 classes plus 2 kindergarten classes serving roughly 213 students and about 20 staff. Over 60 years since its founding, it continues to serve these outlying farming hamlets rather than the Shanhua town center.
大同國小創立於民國44年（1955年），最初是善化國小的分校「大同分校」，位於六分寮與東勢寮兩個聚落之間。目前學校規模為8個班級加2個幼兒園班，學生約213人，教職員約20人。創校逾60年，至今仍持續服務這些位於善化外圍的農村聚落，而非善化市街核心區。
