Dashu Junior High School was established in 1958 as a branch of Kaohsiung County's Fengshan Middle School (高雄縣鳳山中學大樹分部), becoming fully independent in 1960. In 1976, the school established its own Xipu branch campus (溪埔分部), which later grew into today's independent Xipu Junior High School — extending Dashu's educational reach across the district.
大樹國中創立於1958年（民國47年），最初為「高雄縣鳳山中學大樹分部」，1960年（民國49年）正式獨立設校。1976年，學校設立溪埔分部，其後發展為今日獨立的溪埔國中，將大樹的教育版圖延伸至區內其他角落。
