Dashan Elementary opened in 1940 as the "Waipu Public School Dashan Branch," becoming independent in 1951. In 1966, it established the Haibao (海寶) satellite campus, which itself became an independent school in 1977. Located in the coastal Wanbao area, Dashan has served this community for over 80 years — a farming area that became nationally known for its residents' activism to preserve their organic watermelon farmland against land expropriation.
