Daniao Elementary School

Daniao Elementary, whose student body is roughly 99 percent Paiwan Indigenous, sits at the 432-kilometer marker of Provincial Highway 9, facing the Pacific with South Dawu Mountain rising to the west. The school includes a branch campus, the Aiguo-Pu Branch School. In August 2009, the surrounding Paiwan community of Daniao — known in the Paiwan language as Pacavalj — was badly hit by Typhoon Morakot's flooding, one of the most difficult periods in the village's recent history. In the years since, the community has worked to rebuild, and the school continues to serve as an anchor for its children and families.

大鳥國小的學生約99%為排灣族原住民，校址位於省道台9線432公里處，東面太平洋、西倚南大武山，並設有愛國蒲分校。民國98年（2009年）8月，莫拉克颱風重創了大鳥部落（排灣語稱Pacavalj）周邊社區，是這個部落近年歷史上最艱難的時刻之一。歷經多年重建，社區持續努力復原家園，而學校始終是孩子與家庭的重要依靠。
