A historic building at one of Taipei's oldest schools.
Dalong Elementary was founded in 1896, during the Japanese colonial era, as the 3rd Affiliated School of the Government-General's Language School (臺灣總督府國語學校第三附屬學校) — making it one of the oldest elementary schools in Taipei. Its rear school building dates to 1933, originally two stories and expanded to three in 1968; it still retains original arcades and terrazzo (磨石子) stairs, and was registered as a Taipei City historic building in 2006. The school built a swimming pool and opened a kindergarten in 1985, and celebrated its 100th anniversary on November 12, 1996, with then-President Lee Teng-hui attending and planting a commemorative tree. It also runs Go (圍棋) education and a nanguan (南管, traditional Southern Fujian music) club established in 1994.

Beside the Confucius Temple and Bao'an Temple.
As one of Taipei's oldest schools, dating to 1896, Dalong Elementary sits in Dalongdong beside the Confucius Temple and Bao'an Temple — its century-plus history is inseparable from Datong District's identity as Taipei's earliest-settled area. The school's own heritage building now stands as a physical landmark alongside the neighborhood's other registered historic sites.
