A school forged alongside a sugar town.
Dalin Junior High traces its roots to 1913, when the Japanese-run Nitaka Sugar Manufacturing Company founded an elementary school for its employees' children at Dapolin. The school in its current form was formally founded in 1946 as "Tainan County Chiayi Girls' Junior High School," renamed after the Tainan/Chiayi county split in 1950, expanded into a full secondary school in 1957, and took its present name in 1968 under Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform. Today it enrolls around 515 students across 22 classes, including dedicated music and athletics talent classes, and its students have posted strong results on the national Basic Competency Test.

Growing up in a former sugar town.
Founded in the shadow of the Nitaka sugar refinery that built Dalin into a company town, the school's own origin story is entwined with the sugar industry that shaped the whole township. That legacy still runs through Dalin's streets and identity today, even as the town has grown to host Nanhua University and Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital.
