One of the county's oldest schools.

Dalin Elementary was founded in 1906 as "Dapolin Public School," making it one of the oldest schools in Chiayi County. It was renamed several times through the Japanese colonial era and after Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, eventually taking its current name in 1968 under the nine-year compulsory education reform. Today the school enrolls about 549 students across 29 classes, with a bilingual and English-emphasis program and a coding curriculum built around Scratch and Blockly — recently winning a county award for an English-language feature video.

🏫

A century-plus-old school at the historic heart of the former sugar-refinery town of Dalin, its own lineage — from public school (公學校) to national school (國民學校) to today's elementary school — mirrors the town's transformation from a Japanese-era sugar company town into a modern township now also known for Nanhua University and the Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital.
