A campus rebuilt after disaster.

Daji Junior High began life in 1969 as "民雄國中大崎分班," a branch class of Minsyong Junior High, was upgraded to a full branch campus in 1970, and finally became an independent school in 1975. Its most defining chapter came after the devastating 1999 (921) earthquake, when the campus was rebuilt with support from the Tzu Chi Foundation's "Hope Project" (慈濟希望工程), making it a documented landmark of Taiwan's post-earthquake school reconstruction effort. Today the school runs a visual-arts talent class with an active social-media presence, has earned recognition in the National Geography Knowledge Competition, English competitions, and Mother Language Day arts contests, and maintains a fully wheelchair-accessible campus layout.

🕊️

Its 921-earthquake reconstruction via Tzu Chi's Hope Project makes Daji Junior High a physical landmark of Taiwan's post-1999 school-rebuilding effort in rural Chiayi, in the same farming district that gave rise to nearby Daqi (大崎) village. See the Chiayi County page for more on the region.
