One of the oldest schools bearing the Da'an name.
Da'an Elementary was founded in 1929, during Japanese rule, as “Da'an Public School.” It was renamed “Tomita National School” in 1941, reverted to the “Da'an” name after Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, and took its current formal name in 1967. Enrollment peaked in 1991 at 115 classes; today it has shrunk to about 43 classes with roughly 1,225 students and 98 teachers, reflecting the district's declining birth rate. The school opened one of the area's first public kindergartens in 1987.
