Siding Elementary was established in 1949, after a site competition between the Siding and Longtou communities was resolved by lottery — Siding residents agreed to build and maintain the connecting road to Longtou in exchange for the school being sited on their land. Today it remains a very small rural school: as of the 2025 school year, it enrolls only 48 elementary students across grades 1 through 6, plus 14 kindergarteners. Its school motto, "隙間鍾秀氣 頂上育英才," reflects its perch high on the mountain.
隙頂國小創立於民國38年（1949年），當年隙頂與龍頭兩個社區為爭取設校地點以抽籤方式決定，隙頂居民並承諾修築、維護通往龍頭的聯絡道路以換取設校。至今仍是規模極小的山區學校：114學年度全校僅48名國小學生（一至六年級），另有14名幼兒園學生。校訓「隙間鍾秀氣 頂上育英才」，正呼應了學校座落山頂的地理特色。
