Over 70 years serving the "east harbor" village.
Jingshan Elementary School began in 1938 as a branch of Budai Public School called "Qiandonggang Branch," becoming independent in April 1940 as "Qiandonggang National School." It was renamed Jingshan National School in 1950 and Jingshan National Elementary School in 1968. The school published a commemorative volume for its 70th anniversary and counts numerous alumni prominent in local industry, academia, medicine, business, and public service. The school's motto, "優質景山 希望學校," captures its aspiration to remain a quality educational anchor for this small coastal village.
Named for an "east harbor."
Located in Donggang Village (東港里) — a name meaning "east harbor" — the school's very name and site echo Budai's identity as a historic fishing-port network of small harbors along the coast. See the Chiayi county page for more on the region.
