Built from marshland into a growing campus.

Chunghua Junior High began in 1968 as a branch of Toucheng Middle School's Yilan campus and was formally renamed and established the following year, in 1969, becoming the third junior high school built in Yilan City to implement nine-year compulsory education. The original campus site was a low-lying, flood-prone marshy area, and early students and staff worked hard to develop the grounds into a usable school. Starting with just 8 classes, the school has since grown to 37 classes, including a dedicated sports class established in 2015.
