A small school at the mountain's edge.
Chulai Elementary began in 1959 as a branch class of Haiduan Elementary School before growing into an independent school serving the entrance to Haiduan Township. It remains a small school today, with about 12 classes and roughly 50 students, offering self-prepared school lunches and an attached kindergarten. The school also oversees a remote branch campus, Xinwu Branch School, which serves an even more isolated Bunun community further into the mountains.
