Born from Zhubei's population boom.
Cheng-Gong Junior High was approved in August 2007 under the working name "Shixing Junior High," renamed Cheng-Gong in February 2008, and enrolled its first class in 2009 before its new campus opened in September 2010. That first cohort of 10 classes was temporarily housed at the county sports stadium while construction finished. The permanent campus buildings are arranged around a 200-meter track to form a Chinese-character layout, and the school has run athletics classes since 2010 and a math/science gifted resource class since 2011. A 2024 news report noted that roughly 35% of students earn straight-A grades.

🏗️ Built in a Hurry, and Grown Fast
The first cohort started classes at the county sports stadium before the campus was even finished — a vivid snapshot of how fast Zhubei's school-age population was growing.
A textbook case of Zhubei's growth.
Cheng-Gong's rapid founding-to-overcrowding cycle mirrors Zhubei's population boom, as families relocating for Hsinchu Science Park jobs and the High Speed Rail station have driven persistent demand for new school seats across the city.
