Chaoliao Elementary began in September 1948 as a branch campus of Zhaoming Elementary, becoming a formally established independent school on March 13, 1953, with five classes. The land-purchase agreement for its current campus was finalized in 1972 with the Taiwan Sugar Corporation, reflecting the historic role of the sugar industry in shaping land use across this part of Kaohsiung.
潮寮國小於民國37年(1948年)9月以昭明國小分校形式成立,民國42年(1953年)3月13日正式獨立設校,初期設有五個班級。現址校地的購地協議於1972年與台灣糖業公司完成,反映了糖業在高雄這一帶土地利用歷史上的重要角色。
