A small school in a renamed village.
Changqiao Elementary is a small school of about 37 elementary students and 15 kindergartners, serving one of Fenglin Township's more remote highland communities. The village itself carries an interesting history: it was originally called "Maliwu," meaning "uphill" in the local Indigenous language, before being renamed "Changqiao" (長橋, "long bridge") during the Japanese colonial era for a nearby railway bridge. Today, over 80% of the surrounding community is Hakka, reflecting Fenglin's broader identity as a historic Hakka farming town.
