Chailin Elementary became an independent school on August 1, 1976, having originated as a branch campus of Meilin Elementary School since 1964. The school runs an experimental education program and is well known for its harmonica ensemble, which has earned consistent county and national recognition. Its robotics program has also achieved international success — winning the 2025 Robofest world championship in the robot-parade category — alongside strong results in English and Hakka language proficiency. The campus building itself won a 2019 architectural design award.
柴林國小於民國65年（1976年）8月1日獨立設校，前身為民國53年（1964年）美林國小設立的柴林分校。學校推動實驗教育課程，並以口琴合奏團聞名，屢獲縣級與全國性肯定。機器人課程更於國際舞台大放異彩，於2025年Robofest世界錦標賽機器人遊行組奪冠，學生在英語與客語能力方面亦表現優異，校舍建築更曾於2019年獲建築設計獎。
