敦和國小前身為民國65年(1976年)成立的「草屯國小敦和分校」,於民國69年(1980年)1月1日獨立設校。該校學生近期於全縣泰雅族語朗讀比賽中榮獲第一名,展現學校對原住民族語教育的支持。學校官網也提供英文版本,是草屯地區國小中較具國際能見度的網站之一。
