Taipei Municipal Bihu Elementary School began as a branch school in August 1959, was renamed the "Bihu Branch" the following year, and was upgraded to an independent school in August 1961. The school was renamed multiple times through Neihu's 1968 incorporation into Taipei City and that same year's nine-year compulsory education reform, reflecting the broader institutional changes sweeping the district in that era. Its vision statement, "Shining, High-Quality Bihu; Outstanding, Brilliant Childhood" (閃耀優質碧湖，卓越璀璨童年), continues to guide the school today.
碧湖國小前身於民國48年（1959年）8月設立分校，隔年更名為「碧湖分校」，於民國50年（1961年）8月升格為獨立學校。學校歷經多次更名，包括民國57年（1968年）內湖併入臺北市及同年九年國教改革帶來的一連串制度變革。校訓／願景「閃耀優質碧湖，卓越璀璨童年」，至今仍是學校的辦學方向。
