A campus that wears its culture openly.
Bihou Elementary was founded in 1911 during the Japanese colonial era as the "Bihou Aboriginal Education Institute." Today, over 90% of both faculty and students are Atayal Indigenous. The campus architecture features Atayal totem motifs — diamond shapes, blue waves, a watchtower-style spire, and an interlocking peaked roof — making the buildings themselves a form of cultural expression. The school is also home to the Bihou Atayal Dance Troupe.
