Over 125 years, starting inside a temple.

Beipu Elementary's history stretches back to 1898, when it opened under Japanese rule as a branch of the Xinzhu Japanese-Language Training Institute at Beipu. Classes were first held inside the Cihtian Temple, the central Hakka temple at the heart of Beipu, before the school relocated to a dedicated campus in 1902. It was renamed Beipu National School in 1941 and reorganized following Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, giving it well over 125 years of continuous history — making it one of the oldest schools in Hsinchu County.
