Not to be confused with Beinan Township — this is Taitung City's own Peinan.
Peinan (Beinan) Junior High School opened in 1962 as "卑南初級中學" and took its current name in 1968. Despite the shared name, this school sits within Taitung City itself, on the south side of Nanwang Mountain near the Peinan Cultural Park — it is a distinct institution from the schools of Beinan Township, a separate rural township elsewhere in Taitung County. The school's baseball team made history in 1971 by winning the championship of Taiwan's first-ever National Junior High School Baseball League, an early landmark in Taitung's now-celebrated baseball tradition.
