A national high school for the Beimen coast, based in Jiali.
National Beimen Senior High School was established on March 29, 1946 as Tainan County Beimen Junior High School, with some accounts tracing its lineage further back to a 1940 home-economics girls' school. It became a complete junior-and-senior-high institution in 1949 and was elevated to provincial status in 1952. Despite its name, the campus has always stood in Jiali District, serving the historically impoverished salt-farming and oyster-culture communities along the Beimen coast, once associated with the region's "blackfoot disease" era.

🌊 Serving the Beimen Coast
服務北門沿海
Though named for Beimen, the campus sits in Jiali, serving generations of students from the historically salt-farming and oyster-culture communities along the coast.
Jiali, market town of the coastal plain.
Jiali District has long been the market town serving Tainan's northern coastal plain, anchored by Jinluan Temple (金唐殿) — one of the region's most important Wangye "King Boat Festival" temples and a center of Siraya Pingpu indigenous ancestor-spirit (阿立祖) worship in the surrounding hamlets. National Beimen Senior High School's presence in Jiali, drawing students from the poorer coastal communities it is named for, reflects the town's historic role as the inland hub connecting the salt flats and fishing villages of the Beimen coast to schools, markets and temple life. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
