Beiling Elementary School

Beiling Elementary School began in 1952 as a branch campus of Luzhu National School, later becoming a branch of Sanpi Elementary School in 1971 before gaining full independence in 1977. For most of its history it operated as a conventional rural elementary school in Beiling Village. As of September 2025, however, Beiling has drawn national attention after relaunching as Taiwan's first public elementary school built around dedicated Taiwanese-language (台語) instruction — a pilot program reported on by outlets including BBC News Chinese. Given how recent this transformation is, it is best understood as an emerging, closely watched program rather than a long-established one.

北嶺國小創立於民國41年（1952年），最初為路竹國民學校分校，1971年改隸三埤國小分校，1977年（民國66年）正式獨立設校。多年來，學校以一般鄉間國小的樣貌服務北嶺里居民。然而，自2025年9月起，北嶺國小因轉型為全台首所公立「台語實驗國小」而受到全國矚目，包括BBC中文網等媒體皆有報導。由於此一轉型相當新近，外界宜將其視為仍在觀察中的新興實驗計畫，而非長期建置已久的制度。
