From a girls' science school to bilingual pilot.
Bei'an Junior High School was founded in 1967 on land transferred from a former Taiwan Provincial Training Corps site, with classes beginning the following year. It originally opened as a girls'-only school, "Taipei Municipal Bei'an Girls' Junior High School," and was designated a "natural science experimental school" from the outset. It later ran notable dance-education and Chinese-cuisine vocational experimental classes in 1981-82, complete with its own dedicated swimming pool and dance hall.
The school became coeducational in 1991, taking its current name. More recently, it piloted a bilingual education program starting in the 2019 school year, and was recognized as a Taipei "Reading Excellence" and "Remedial Instruction Excellence" school in 2018. Like neighboring Dazhi Senior High, Bei'an sits on land once used by the Japanese-era and postwar military training corps along Mingshui and Bei'an Roads.

From military training ground to school belt.
Like Dazhi Senior High School, Bei'an Junior High occupies land once used by the Japanese-era and postwar military training corps along Mingshui and Bei'an Roads — part of a belt of former military and training-ground land in northern Zhongshan District that was converted to civilian education use in the 1960s.
