From agricultural branch to independent junior high.
Baoshan Junior High School traces its origins to August 1955, when it opened as a branch of Guanxi Agricultural Vocational School. It was renamed the Baoshan Branch of Hsinchu County First Middle School in 1956, became fully independent as Baoshan Junior Middle School in 1962, and took its current name in 1968. In 1971, the school added a Jiguang Branch, which occupies the original site of Baoshan Elementary School.
寶山國中的歷史可追溯至民國44年(1955年)8月,創校時為關西農業職業學校分校。民國45年(1956年)更名為新竹縣立第一中學寶山分校,民國51年(1962年)獨立設校,命名為寶山初級中學,民國57年(1968年)改為現名。民國60年(1971年)學校增設濟光分校,校地為寶山國小原址。
