保東國小創立於民國11年（1922年），是關廟區歷史較悠久的學校之一，早於1940年代的日治公學校改制。學校曾建立專屬的百年校慶網站，並發起校友老照片徵集活動，獲《自由時報》報導。除一般課程外，保東國小亦推動客語與母語推廣計畫。
