From branch campus to experimental education pioneer.
Badu Elementary started in 1950 as a branch campus of Nuannuan National School, becoming an independent school the following year in 1951. It took its current name, Badu National Elementary School, in 1968. More recently, in 2017, the school was approved to run an experimental education program, making it Keelung's first publicly-run, publicly-operated experimental education school — a distinctive role for what began as a small branch campus seven decades earlier.

From its founding in 1950 to today, Badu Elementary has served generations of children in Keelung's Nuannuan District.
Rooted in Nuannuan's river-trade heritage.
Badu Elementary's origins as a branch of Nuannuan National School tie it directly to the district's history as a river-transport hub along the Keelung River, once a route for shipping indigo, tea, and coal. See the Keelung county page for more on the region.
