Over a century in the Badouzi fishing community.
Badou Elementary traces its roots to 1898 (Meiji 31), when it began as a branch school, becoming Keelung's third independently established public school in 1908 (Meiji 41) under the name "Badouzi Public School" (八斗子公學校). The school went through several renamings during the Japanese colonial era, and relocated in 1955 to its current site due to exhaust pollution from a nearby power plant. Today the school is designated an Indigenous-focus school — as of 2018, 26% of its students were Indigenous, mostly Amis.
