A century-old small school, currently rebuilding.
Anye Elementary School traces its founding to around 1918, based on its 2024 celebration of its 106th/107th anniversary, making it the second-oldest school in Madou after Madou Elementary itself. As a listed remote/rural small school, its enrollment had dropped to just 38 students across 6 classes around 2011, but has since grown to about 119 students in 8 classes through new clubs, after-school care, innovative English instruction, and tech-integrated teaching. The school's aging campus buildings were fully demolished starting in September 2024 as part of a NT$176 million reconstruction project. As of 2026, while its new campus is being built, Anye is temporarily operating out of the campus of neighboring Ji'an Elementary School (紀安國小); the rebuild is expected to continue through roughly mid-2026, so visitors and families should confirm the school's current location directly with the school before visiting.

A small school's demographic story.
Anye's turnaround story — from a shrinking rural school to a growing one through creative programming — reflects the demographic pressures facing small farming-village schools across Madou's countryside as the district's pomelo-growing population ages.
